SHTP return fleet 1500 UTC July 17 recap

This morning’s SSB net radio check-in started on 4.021, conditions were scratchy and difficult to hear.  We shifted up to 6A and the weather guy was there, so we tried 6B and that went better.
We’re going to start on 6B for the 0200 UTC net, if that does not work then we’ll shift back to 4.021.
Net control could barely make out Kynntana, Rainbow had a strong signal and relayed for Kynntana.
reports:
Kynntana  23 52’N x 158 33’W 4.8k @ 010M
Rainbow  23 53’N x 158 36’W 7.0k @ 015M
Rainbow has 18-22k wind, sailing with reefed main and full jib, seas are moderate. No longer making any easting but good northing.  He has caught up with Kynntana and can see their lights.
Kynntana is not sure why they are slow, perhaps they have picked up some debris that is being dragged along and slowing them down.  They are going to investigate when the sun comes up and they can see what’s going on underwater.
No other boats checked in to the net.
Net control relayed that Greg/Nightmare was able to repair the cracked stainless tiller-to-rudder stock connection, and that Nightmare is planning to depart today [Tuesday] from Hanalei.

SHTP return net 0200 UTC July 17 recap

At the 0200 UTC SSB check-in on 4.021 MHz USB, there were two boats at sea:
Kynntana 22 55’N x 159 04’W making 6.5k @ 024M
Rainbow  22 38’N x 159 14’W making 6.5k @ 030M
Kynntana reports confused seas initially, now a 5-6′ swell with 18-20 knots of breeze and is making good easting along with the northing.  All is good on board.
Rainbow reports glorious sailing, good trades.  Cliff also had his second (of 3) autopilots fail, a Raymarine ST3000 that only wants to turn to starboard.  He has swapped that out for his basic Raymarine 3000 wheel pilot and fingers are crossed that the backup pilot is happy to steer the boat.
Riff Rider did not come up on frequency; he has already departed Nawiliwili.
No other boats heard on frequency.
