  1. Humuhumunukunuku’apua’a

There is a double a at the end.

Hawai’ian is a Pure Phonetically spelled and pronounced language with EVERY vowel pronounced. Some consonants are pronounced differently than as in English:
    A is ah
    E is ehh
    I is long E
    O is long O
    U is oo
    W is V

A double vowel like AA is pronounced
    ah ah

    AI is pronounced ah E

I am Hawai’i born and raised, 1970 Maui High grad now living in Benicia

Look to 2018 for my SHTP entry This year I’m already sailing to Hawai’i, then Johnston Is, then to the Marshals for a few months of sail/surf/dive

    1. Thanks – Correct – an “a” was missing, and should be preceded by okina, but note the first “a” contains kahako, and is not preceded by okina – the post is now proper.
