The Young and The Old

Veteran SHTPer Mike Jefferson (Mouton Noir) passing on words of wisdom to first time SHTPer Gregory Saramite (Libra).  Actually Libra did extremely well…maybe there needs to be words of wisdom exchanged both ways!

Seazed Asset loafing

Hi, Amy was here for a few shorts days. She arrived last Wednesday night and waited for my arrival. She got there a bit early, but its a sail boat race, you never really know the finish time. She was in the RC boat “Sea Squirrel” when I finished. The boat had an ice chest with ice cold water and beer. I went for the water first. Ahhh, so nice to drink something that cold again. We went to the Tree, I ate, slept, ate and slept some more. I took a few naps, catching up on lack of sleep. I did do some work, and replaced the broken shift/throttle lever. My brother Dale came through big time with the correct part. He only had my description and a brand name, to go by, yet sourced the correct part. Kudos to Dale. Amy went home on Monday, and took her to the airport and swapped rental cars. Then back to hanalei Bay. Took 10 gallons of fuel to the boat, in a pouring rain storm. Went by Race HQ and asked about Tree Time, in the rain. Location was changed to the house so I went to my motel and changed into dry clothes. Had fun at Tree Time then off to bed. Yesterday I moved Seazed Asset to Nawiliwili yacht Harbor. Its a bit removed, but am at a dock. Need to fix a few things, like the boom vang attachment, retrieve my halyard, replace the fuel gauge sender, top off water and load up with diesel. Oh, pick up my return crew at the airport. Steve Flyn, is arriving at 3 pm today. Its been hot an muggy on the boat. Had a difficult time sleeping. The trade winds started blowing again about 3 am , so that helped. I called Commanders weather for routing home. They said Sunday does not look good to start my return to the Bay Area. I need to wait for two tropical storms to get in front of me. Looks like a Monday or Tuesday departure. Breakfast is prepared for the hungry hordes while the Kahuna checks his phone to see which boat has escaped its anchor. Transpac boats won’t be domesticated. They are ready to roll.
