Above is seen a $35 Raspberry Pi single board computer, set up as a wireless access point to serve boat instrument data and AIS target data for display on a tablet (iPad with iNavx in this case). The NMEA data is handled by a package called kplex. This way the skipper doesn’t have to go below (or get out of the bunk) to see AIS targets or wind speed data, etc.
